Obayashi Corporation holds financial results briefings and individual meetings, as well as twice-yearly construction site tours and business briefings, in order to provide institutional investors, including shareholders, and securities analysts with a better understanding of its business performance and operations.

With the COVID-19 pandemic making it difficult to engage in face-to-face dialogue with investors and analysts, Obayashi held a teleconference-style briefing session on its development projects in September 2020. This followed by a briefing session outlining its initiatives generating innovation in an online format on March 30, 2021, attended by 40 institutional investors and securities analysts.

Outlining the Obayashi Group's strategy for achieving growth by generating innovation

In 2017, the Obayashi Group established Silicon Valley Ventures & Laboratory (SVVL, Inc.) in Silicon Valley, United States, to advance its efforts to generate innovation through collaboration with research institutions and startup companies possessing cutting-edge technologies. In April 2021, the Business Innovation Division was established with the aim of diversifying revenue sources beyond the current boundaries of the construction industry by selecting cutting-edge technologies that can contribute to commercialization in new business domains, and by developing and testing business models.

During the Zoom (*1) online session, the Obayashi Group's efforts to generate innovations that will pioneer new opportunities in the construction industry were outlined. Five locations, including Obayashi headquarter (Tokyo), SVVL, and a venture capital firm and two start-up companies located in North America who are serving as business partners, were connected with participants, discussing in an online format with simultaneous interpretation provided.

The session also provided the opportunity for participants to ask questions directly to representatives of a venture capital and startup companies in North America, and many questions about the future prospects of the startups were asked.

Obayashi will continue striving to foster constructive engagement with our shareholders, investors, and other stakeholders as well as to enhance information disclosure.
